Communication throughout the care journey

Tell us the type of appointment and language required so we can discuss an appropriate interpreter. The treating professional leads the assessment and treatment; our role is to support communication between everyone involved.

Cognitive rehabilitation therapy

Interpretation for discussions about attention, memory, everyday tasks and rehabilitation goals, with time for the patient and care team to ask questions and clarify instructions.

Occupational therapy (OT)

Language support during conversations about daily routines, self-care, activities at home or work, and the occupational therapist’s recommendations.

Speech-language pathology (SLP)

Interpretation to support conversations with a speech-language pathologist about communication or swallowing care. Coordinate assessment requirements with the clinician in advance.

Physical therapy (PT)

Help patients and physical therapists discuss mobility, symptoms, session instructions and follow-up plans while the clinician directs movement and exercises.

Recreational therapy

Support communication about interests, participation and activity instructions during recreational therapy appointments and programs.

Vocational rehabilitation

Interpretation for meetings about returning to work, workplace needs, training and employment goals with vocational rehabilitation professionals.

Psychotherapy and counseling

Language support for counseling conversations, coordinated with the provider’s session format and communication needs. Share any interpreter preferences when requesting an appointment.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)

Interpretation during therapist-led conversations about thoughts, feelings, behaviors and session activities, including explanations of the therapist’s between-session instructions.

Adaptive exercise and balance classes

Support understanding of the instructor’s directions, adaptations and participant questions. Let us know the group size, room setup and planned activities.

Movement therapy

Help participants communicate with the practitioner about movement activities and session goals. Advance coordination allows for the pace and physical layout of the session.

Pain management

Interpretation for conversations about symptoms, day-to-day impact, care options and follow-up instructions with a pain management provider.

Getting started

Plan language support for your appointment

Patients, caregivers, clinics and rehabilitation teams can contact ATI to discuss a request. Availability is confirmed before an appointment is arranged.

  1. Share the appointment details

Provide the language and dialect, therapy setting, date, expected duration and appointment location or remote format.

  2. Coordinate with the care team

Identify the provider’s scheduling contact and any session requirements, such as group participation, assessment materials or repeated visits.

  3. Confirm the arrangements

We’ll discuss availability, the proposed service and pricing, then confirm the details before your appointment.

ATI provides language services. Diagnosis, treatment, exercise supervision and clinical decisions remain with the treating healthcare professional.

Frequently asked questions

What do OT, PT, SLP and CBT mean?
OT means occupational therapy; PT means physical therapy; SLP refers to speech-language pathology or a speech-language pathologist; and CBT means cognitive behavioral therapy. Include the full service name when contacting us so we can understand the appointment context.
Can I request an interpreter for recurring therapy sessions?
Yes. Share the anticipated schedule and whether continuity is important to your care team. We can discuss recurring arrangements and interpreter availability before confirming each booking.
Can a clinic or caregiver coordinate the request?
Yes. Include a scheduling contact and the patient’s required language. Coordinate consent and information-sharing requirements with the healthcare provider, and keep the initial inquiry focused on scheduling rather than detailed medical records.
What if we need written information translated?
Mention any written materials separately, such as appointment instructions or patient information. Written translation and spoken interpretation are different services, and we can discuss the scope and timing for each.
